Ted’s journey from home builder to spray foam contractor gives him a unique understanding of your challenges, goals, and what it takes to succeed in this competitive industry. That real-world experience is at the core of everything we do.
Whether you're launching your first rig or expanding your fleet, Profoam is here to help you grow with confidence. We don’t just sell equipment—we equip you for long-term success.
Ted Medford’s journey in the insulation industry began in 1987, when he and his father, Larry, founded Medford’s Insulation while Ted was still attending the University of Georgia. At the time, fiberglass was the go-to solution for most insulation contractors. The Medford's primarily installed fiberglass batts and performed attic blow-ins—quickly building a solid reputation in the North Georgia area.
As their business grew, so did their curiosity about better solutions. After recognizing the enhanced thermal performance of cellulose, they made the strategic decision to invest in cellulose spray equipment, elevating their offerings and expanding their client base.
But the real turning point came in the mid-1990s.
Ted and Larry discovered spray foam insulation—widely considered the most advanced and effective insulation on the market. Intrigued by its performance and energy-saving potential, they dove into research, attended demonstrations, and saw spray foam applications firsthand. Convinced of its value, they invested in spray foam equipment, setting the stage for a new era in their business.
That decision not only transformed their company—it laid the foundation for what would eventually become Profoam.
With their new spray foam product line, Ted and his team spent years expanding their business across the Southeastern United States—facing little regional competition and rapidly gaining momentum. But Ted saw an even greater opportunity: to share his proven business model and help other entrepreneurs succeed in the growing spray foam industry.
That vision led to the creation of a dealership program designed to replicate their success. Through this initiative, aspiring business owners gained access to everything they needed to hit the ground running—state-of-the-art spray foam rigs, comprehensive hands-on training, strategic marketing resources, and ongoing business development support.
Throughout the 2000s and beyond, Profoam played a critical role in launching hundreds of successful spray foam insulation businesses across the country. From custom-built rigs in a variety of sizes and configurations to expertly crafted marketing materials and in-depth training courses, Profoam focused on one mission: making it as seamless as possible to own and operate a profitable spray foam insulation business.
After years of success and expertise in the industry, Profoam was acquired by a leading supplier of spray foam and coatings. Today, under Ted’s leadership, Profoam combines decades of hands-on experience with the industry's finest materials, cutting-edge application equipment, and innovative marketing programs for contractors. The result? A company that stands as the most forward-thinking supplier in the spray foam industry.
Ted's unwavering commitment to equipping customers with the best tools, technology, and training drives everything we do. At Profoam, we don’t just sell equipment—we build lasting partnerships, strong businesses, and a reputation for integrity that elevates the entire industry.
